TBZ Duties are as follows:

• Registration of tobacco growers;
• Licensing of tobacco graders;
• Licensing of tobacco sales floors;
• Licensing of tobacco buyers;
• Inspections of tobacco nurseries and fields in order to ensure that they conform to standards and meet the requirement of the tobacco act CAP 237 of the laws of Zambia
• Inspection of tobacco warehouses, sales floors and related tobacco premises;
• Coordination of the tobacco industry;
• Reporting to the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, all matters pertaining to tobacco;
• Collaboration with international institutions on matters related to tobacco
• Supervision and monitoring of tobacco out-grower fund
